My First 10K Pacing Experience: A Journey of Pain, Perseverance, and Pride 2025
For the past eight months, running has been my gateway to a healthier life. Today, I achieved a milestone I never thought I could: pacing my first 10K in 80 minutes as a bus runner with two incredible fellow pacees. It wasn’t just a run—it was a battle with my limits, and it was worth every step.
The journey began early at 6:20 AM from Dhanmondi Takwa Mosque. My goal was to pace consistently at 7:19 minutes per kilometer, finishing near Dhanmondi Bridge. From the very first kilometer, I could feel the pressure—this wasn’t just about my pace but also about motivating my fellow runners, Seahorse Russell Bhai and Rezwana Apu, both champion athletes.
1. Pain Kicked In, But So Did Determination
By the 4th kilometer, I felt a sharp pain in my left leg. It wasn’t the kind of discomfort you could ignore; it was persistent, almost begging me to stop. Yet, something inside me kept saying, "You can’t give up. Keep going, even if it hurts." I reminded myself of the countless hours of practice, the early mornings, and the vision of crossing the finish line.
From 4km to 7km, the pain was my constant companion. Each step felt heavier, but giving up wasn’t an option. I’ve always believed:
“Your body can endure almost anything. It’s your mind you have to convince.”
As I hit the final stretch, the last 1km became a true test of my willpower. My lungs were burning, my legs were crying out, but my heart was on fire. This was my first non-stop 10K run and my first pacing experience—there was no way I was stopping.
Crossing the finish line wasn’t just a relief; it was an explosion of emotions. I had done it. Not just for myself but for everyone who believed in me.
2. The Joy of a Healthy Life
Running has taught me discipline, resilience, and the value of a healthy lifestyle. Every step I take is a step toward a better version of myself. My motto is simple:
“Health isn’t just about the body. It’s about the mind, the soul, and the joy of surpassing your limits.”
Today’s run reinforced that. It wasn’t about winning medals or setting records; it was about proving to myself that I am stronger than I think.
3. The Experience Beyond the Run
Being part of the Clemon presents ActivePulse 10K powered by GIGABYTE was an unforgettable experience. From the kit expo to the pacer t-shirt, everything was meticulously organized. The post-run celebration was a cherry on top: receiving a crest, a beautifully designed medal, and some delicious food. These little moments remind me why I love being part of such events.
The camaraderie was equally inspiring. I got to run alongside seasoned athletes and welcome new runners like Saiful into the community. And of course, running under the guidance of ActivePulse Bangladesh, a group I deeply admire, made it even more special.
4. Motivation to Keep Going
Every run leaves me with a lesson. Today, I learned that no matter how tough the road gets, you can always push through if you have the will.
“Running isn’t about the distance you cover but the courage it takes to keep moving forward.”
For anyone doubting their ability to start or continue running, my message is simple: Put on your shoes, take that first step, and don’t look back. The hardest part is starting; the rest is your story to write.
Here’s to more miles, more challenges, and more moments of self-discovery. Today was my first pacing experience—and it’s just the beginning.
