I will complete 12 years with Mojar School
November 2024 is over. In just 40 days, I will complete 12 years with Mojar School. We have a basic plan until 2033, but like cricket matches, we often have to break it into 2- or 3-year goals. Compared to general organizations, our growth may seem slow, but I don’t believe that.
Why don’t I believe that?
Because for me, progress means consistency, gradual advancement, and step-by-step growth based on our capacity.
Let me explain. Imagine planning to build a two-story building and starting the project with 10 years’ worth of hard-earned funds. After completing the first floor, I notice someone nearby constructing a 10-story building rapidly. Then I start questioning myself—why shouldn’t I build a 10-story building too? In an attempt to compete unnecessarily, I forget that my foundation is only designed for two stories. With makeshift adjustments, I add a third and fourth floor and then settle for a tin-roof fifth floor. What I overlook is that we didn’t dream together, our plans and strategies weren’t aligned, and—more importantly—our growth environments and support systems are vastly different.
So, the visible 10-story building next door cannot and should not be my focus point. If it is, disaster is inevitable.
When we doubt our own plans and journey, stumbling is only natural. This applies to individuals at any stage of life.
Key Takeaways from Our Journey:
- We’ve never undertaken projects beyond our capacity, so there has been no waste of donor money.
- Receiving and spending large donations was never our goal. Instead, we’ve prioritized impact. While failures exist, our success rate is significantly higher.
- Addressing issues like child marriage requires strong legal and financial support, often lasting 5–10 years. This is still beyond our current capacity, but we’re hopeful for progress.
- We’re already working to prevent boys from engaging in hazardous labor. While we’ve made some progress, there’s room to expand, and we intend to do so.
- We aim to bring our monitoring system to an exemplary level. Follow-ups are the first step toward consistency, something we’ve been doing to the best of our ability since 2013.
Personal and Organizational Goals for 2025:
I have two personal goals for the organization in 2025:
- Hold 10 new meetings every month.Last month’s trial was successful, and this will continue in December. The 2025 goal is 120 new meetings, with three primary purposes: 1.1 Expanding partnerships. 1.2 Exploring financial possibilities. 1.3 Sharing our 12-year journey.
- Establish as many MoUs with other organizations as possible, regardless of their type.
Key Milestones for 2025:
- For the first time, we will have students appearing for the SSC exam, which we see as a significant achievement, not a challenge.
- Another major goal is hoisting the flag of Odommo Bangladesh abroad.
From 2025 to 2029, we’ll focus on implementing a small 5-year plan. Planning and implementation require massive participation, alignment in goals, and equal pacing—all of which are nearly impossible. But those who succeed can achieve this.
Final Thoughts:
Everything depends on staying healthy and preparing for possible obstacles and challenges. We’ve never aimed to surpass anyone else, nor do we plan to. Taking inspiration is fine, but our primary focus will always be on doing better than we did before.
