"Education for Sustainable Life-Changing Initiative" by Mojar School

The "Education for Sustainable Life-Changing Initiative" by Mojar School aims to provide underprivileged children and youth with the tools, skills, and opportunities necessary for a better and more sustainable future. Since its inception in 2013, Mojar School has been committed to breaking the cycle of poverty through education. Over the past 12 years, we have grown from a humble start to a dynamic organization that now serves 2,300 students across 23 branches in Bangladesh, with plans to face the first government exam, the SSC (Secondary School Certificate). Our journey from street to SSC is a testament to the transformative power of education, and this project aims to further build on our successes, ensuring that these students not only gain academic knowledge but are also equipped for sustainable, meaningful lives.

Objectives:

  • To provide high-quality, inclusive, and equitable education to underprivileged children and youth, with a focus on street children and those from marginalized communities.
  • To ensure students are well-prepared for government exams, including the SSC, marking the transition from informal to formal education.
  • To offer vocational and life skills training that empowers students for future employment and entrepreneurship.
  • To create a sustainable learning environment where children and youth are encouraged to continue their education and become leaders within their communities.
  • To foster long-term social and economic change by providing both educational and community support systems.

Key Components:

  1. Access to Education for Street Children: Our initiative focuses on providing education to street children and those from the most vulnerable sections of society. This includes a blend of non-formal education, general education (aligned with the National Curriculum and Textbook Board), and technical training, to help these children transition smoothly into formal schooling and beyond.
  2. SSC Exam Preparation: With Mojar School preparing its first batch of students for the SSC exam, this initiative will provide intensive exam preparation, including specialized tutoring, coaching, and mentorship. We aim to ensure that our students are not only prepared academically but are also mentally and emotionally ready for the challenges of formal education.
  3. Vocational Training and Life Skills Development: Beyond formal education, the initiative includes vocational training programs in technical fields, digital literacy, and soft skills, ensuring that students are equipped for future employment. Life skills such as problem-solving, communication, financial literacy, and critical thinking will also be integral components of the curriculum, fostering independent and resilient individuals.
  4. Psychosocial Support and Mentorship: Given the traumatic backgrounds many of our students come from, we will provide psychosocial support through counseling services and mentorship. This will help students overcome personal challenges, build self-esteem, and instill the motivation needed to succeed in their academic and life pursuits.
  5. Community Engagement and Parent Involvement: Engaging families and local communities is a critical part of this initiative. We will work to ensure that parents understand the importance of education and support their children's academic and personal growth. Additionally, we will organize community events to raise awareness about education and the role of the community in sustainable development.
  6. Sustainability and Long-term Impact: The project will emphasize the importance of sustainability by involving students in environmental education, community service, and leadership activities. By nurturing an entrepreneurial mindset, we hope to create future leaders who will contribute to their communities and the nation’s development.

Expected Outcomes:

  • Improved educational outcomes, including successful completion of the SSC exam for students transitioning from informal to formal education.
  • Increased enrollment and retention rates among street children and underprivileged youth.
  • Higher employability rates among graduates due to vocational training and life skills development.
  • Stronger community support for education, with greater parental and community engagement.
  • Empowered youth who are equipped to break the cycle of poverty and contribute to the social and economic development of their communities.

Conclusion:

The "Education for Sustainable Life-Changing Initiative" is not just an educational project; it is a transformative approach to ending poverty and creating sustainable futures for Bangladesh’s most vulnerable children and youth. Through this initiative, Mojar School seeks to empower a new generation of leaders who will break the cycle of poverty, promote social justice, and contribute to the nation's development in the years to come.
